the
Mar Menor,
an area of 180 km2, is the largest saltwater lagoon in Europe. Located
in the Murcia region and is separated from the Mediterranean by the Manga. The
first remains found in the lagoon of Mar Menor are in the Palaeolithic,
although outnumber those found in Arabic and Roman times.From
the Roman era highlights the important development of the industry salted. Inside
the lagoon there are several islands, Mayor, Perdiguera, Round, Deer and
Subject. Its
73 km of coast bathed beautiful beaches with clear waters with little depth
and a pleasant temperature. One
of the most visited places in the region thanks to its good climate, the
curative properties of its waters with high salt and iodine, and also as an
ideal place for practicing water sports. It
is now a place of great environmental interest because of the enormous
richness of its landscapes and its wildlife is protected by the Ramsar
Convention for international protection from moisture. |
